How Does Your Song Start?

Beginnings are very important.  Try starting with a catchy opening statement, image or question, to draw in the listener.  Then set up the song’s premise or idea as it leads to the chorus.  Too often the writer comes up with a nice chorus that summarizes the heart of the song, but is careless about the first few words of the verse. How you start sets the mood of the song.
